Project Background
As the largest energy company in the UAE and a leading global oil and gas provider, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) operates extensive onshore and offshore fields. Offshore drilling platforms demand highly reliable and corrosion-resistant equipment due to harsh marine conditions. To ensure efficient and safe operation of the MITSUBISHI S12R-F1PTAW2 generator system, Sinrui custom-designed and delivered four high-performance shell-and-tube heat exchangers to ADNOC, specifically built to withstand extreme offshore environments and ensure long-term, stable heat exchange.

Design & Performance
This shell-and-tube heat exchanger is specially engineered for the MITSUBISHI S12R-F1PTAW2 generator used in offshore environments. It features C5-M marine-grade anti-corrosion coating and integrated zinc anodes for internal protection. Both shell and tube sides were hydrostatically tested at 0.6 MPa for 60 minutes to ensure pressure integrity.
Key features include:
·Durable construction: Carbon steel with C5-M epoxy coating for high resistance in saline air.
·Corrosion protection: Zinc rods prevent internal galvanic corrosion.
·Compact structure: Easy integration with flanged nozzles and lifting lugs.
·Compliance: Fabricated and tested to ASME Section VIII pressure vessel standards.
Technical Highlights
·Thermal Load: Efficient heat transfer achieved through HTRI-calculated baffle spacing and increased tube surface area.
·Maintenance Access: Front and rear cover flanges are removable for easy inspection and cleaning.
·Mechanical Reliability: Built to withstand vibration and thermal expansion in offshore conditions.
·System Compatibility: Fully compatible with the MITSUBISHI S12R-F1PTAW2 generator cooling loop.
Field Application
Installed on ADNOC’s offshore drilling platform, this heat exchanger plays a vital role in maintaining generator stability by:
·Regulating coolant temperature for continuous power output
·Preventing overheating under peak load operation
·Extending generator service life
·Reducing unplanned maintenance through corrosion-resistant design
This project reflects Sinrui’s commitment to delivering customized cooling solutions for critical offshore power generation. With a rugged design, ASME-certified fabrication, and offshore-grade corrosion protection, this shell-and-tube heat exchanger meets ADNOC’s performance and durability requirements.
